Boron Mysticism

The image inspired by our recent work [Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 52, 3156 (2013)] with graduate student Yuanyue Liu and Prof. Boris Yakobson wins 3rd place in the RCEL Engineering Art Contest. RCEL’s Engineering Art Contest is an opportunity for students to showcase their research in an unconventional format. It is about looking at engineering challenges and solutions in a different light, and communicating through a powerful and accessible medium. Submissions have been judged on their ability to communicate "Engineering + Art" using the following three criteria: (i) Communication of the central idea, (ii) Artistic quality, and (iii) Impact on the viewer. Our composition appears to be the only finalist based upon and representing a purely theoretical work.
